My wife and I feel very fortunate to have booked 2 tours with “Portuguese For A Day”.
We enjoyed our first trip with co-owner Andre and the Sintra + trip had the same high quality level. We started the day with an 8:10 AM pick-up. This early starting time got us to the Pena Palace just before it opened. The Palace was empty and we had no problem taking photos with crowds of tourists around. By the time we were leaving, lines were long and getting longer. It was such a pleasure to have the access to this amazing place that we did. The tour was filled with interesting information, useful observations and a genuine friendliness among the 5 other people. Andre is not a lock-step guide but uses planning and his insights to give you the chance to chart your own path of discovery.(…)

I think going on this road trip was the best thing during my 3 day trip to Lisbon.
Sintra is a hidden treasure that is best to do with a company as it can be complicated to go on your own. We had fun with Andre and communicating about culture, tourism, art, and most importantly our love to travel. Sintra is very colorful and has so many things to do. I was happy with my choice and If I go to Lisbon again, I would definitely pick this company for another day trip in Portugal.
Best tour of our trip so far! During this unprecedented time, Portuguese for a Day tours remain open during the COVID crisis. They adhere to the highest safety protocols by following the Clean & Safe commitment. Masks were required to be worn at all times, and we were given a “COVID prevention gift bag” at the start of the tour (…) The tour itself exceeded expectations! André was friendly, knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. Douro Historical Train 🚂
Running from June to October, the historical train takes you back in time. You have a chance to ride coaches that date back to 1908! 😱 Hello Sheldon Cooper!!
As soon as the next edition opens, you can buy your tickets at the @cp_comboiosdeportugal but keep in mind, they sell out super fast! We recommend going in June or October, because the Douro Valley can be quite hot in the summer months.

Óbidos is a charming medieval gem surrounded by ancient walls. Known for its narrow cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and vibrant flowers, Óbidos offers a delightful journey back in time.
More than a touristic destination, Óbidos has been the meeting point for many artists throughout time, and to this day you can find little shops and workshops selling local handicrafts & art pieces.
