Welcome to Portuguese For a Day Tours. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before booking a tour with us. By booking and paying for one or more tours, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. This document outlines the rules and guidelines for using our services and participating in our tours.

1. General

1.1. ‘Portuguese For a Day Tours’ hereinafter referred to as ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’.

1.2. Portugal Num Dia, Lda holds all the rights to the “Portuguese For a Day Tours” brand.

1.3. We are a tour and activity operator registered in Portugal under registration number RNAAT 1470/2018, VAT PT514963743.

1.4. The client hereinafter referred to ‘you’, ‘your’, ‘yours’, ‘their’, ‘customer’, ‘group’.

1.5. The service provided hereinafter referred to ‘tour’, ‘tours’, ‘experience’.

1.6. We reserve the right to make minor changes to these terms and conditions as necessary. Any such changes will be communicated to you promptly and will not affect the fundamental nature of the agreement.

1.7. Words in the singular shall include the plural, and words in the plural shall include the singular.

2. Booking & Payments

2.1. The tour description of each tour, and your booking confirmation email serve as proof of the type of tour you booked.

2.2. If you agreed a specific itinerary prior to booking, the itinerary described in your booking confirmation email is the final itinerary.

2.3. A booking can only be confirmed after the payment of the full amount for that booking. No date can be held until a payment has been done.

2.4. Once the payment is made you will be allocated a place/seat on a particular tour and a confirmation emailed to you.

2.5. Reservations made via email will only be considered confirmed once full payment has been verified.

2.6. No order placed by you shall be deemed to be confirmed by the us until a written acknowledgement of order is issued by us.

2.7. We accept no responsibility for incorrect email or inability to deliver email. If your confirmation email does not arrive, please send us an email to info@portugueseforadaytours.com(opens in a new tab) and ask us to receive the email confirmation of the tour you have paid for.

2.8. We reserve the right to sell any places/seats reserved without a deposit or a full payment.

2.9. We cannot guarantee that there will be enough places/seats when you try to make a booking.

2.10. Children, under the age of 12 years old, are considered passengers/guests on each tour. You must contact Portuguese For a Day Tours(opens in a new tab) before booking, if you want to book a tour with a child under the age of 12 to make sure the vehicle is equipped with the mandatory booster seats. According to Portuguese Law, it is mandatory for each child or infant to be secured in a proper booster seat. If you don’t book a seat for a child, we cannot guarantee that we will have capacity on your tour day. Children under the age of 12 are considered passengers or guests on each tour, and their tickets are not free.

2.11. To maintain fairness and availability, booking multiple tour dates to secure spots on different days is not permitted. You can only select one travel date per tour. If multiple bookings are made by the same customer for the same tour, all bookings will be canceled.

2.12. All shared group tours have a minimum of four people to departure. All shared tours and private tours, have a maximum of eight travellers, and we do not operate with groups larger than eight people.

2.13. The payment processor we use is Stripe, to keep all payments up to date in a safe way. We recommend you read our Privacy Policy(opens in a new tab).

2.14. We use PeekPro as our online booking software. PeekPro gathers information about the use of our website by means of cookies. The information gathered is used to provide a seamless booking process as well as adjusting our own inventory. PeekPro uses session cookies. 2.15. All payments must be made in euros (EUR). We do not accept payments in other currencies.

3. Cancellations & Refunds

3.1. Cancellation of your booking must be emailed to info@portugueseforadaytours.com(opens in a new tab)

3.2. Cancellation Policy For shared tours
3.2.1. You are entitled to a refund only if you give us a 48h notice of your intention to cancel.
3.2.2. If cancellations are made inside the 48h before the tour starts, no refund is applicable.
3.2.3. Refunds will be done via the same way used to pay the booking (if available) and the costumer must pay all the credit card fees that may apply.

3.3. Cancellation Policy for private and customized tours
3.3.1. Cancellations done outside 3 days before the tour date are entitled to 80% refund minus any credit card fees.
3.3.2. Cancellations done inside 72 hours before the tour date are not entitled to a refund.
3.3.3. Refunds will be done via the same way used to pay the booking (if available) and the costumer must pay all the credit card fees that may apply.

3.4. The tour start time is the hour that determines the validity of your cancellation request.

3.5. Exchange rates
3.5.1. We are not responsible for any fluctuations in exchange rates.
3.5.2. If a cancellation leads to a refund, the amount refunded will be based on the exchange rate at the time of the refund, which may differ from the rate at the time of booking.
3.5.3. Please be aware that currency exchange rates can vary, and this may affect the final amount you receive.

3.6. Credit card fees are fees charged by our payment processor to manage transactions
3.6.1. We use Stripe to manage payments in a safe and effective way.
3.6.2. When a tour is cancelled, these fees are not refunded, as they are used to process all transactions.
3.6.3. Card fees are as follows:

3.7. Chargebacks
3.7.1. Duplicate Bookings: We do not accept chargebacks for duplicate bookings made for the same tour on the same day or on different days.
3.7.2. No-Shows: We do not accept chargebacks from customers who fail to show up for a tour.
3.7.3. Cancellation Policy: We do not accept chargebacks from customers who ignore our cancellation policy or attempt to cancel outside the allowable period.
3.7.4. Completed Tours: Chargebacks are not accepted if the tour has been completed and the customer has participated in the tour.
3.7.5. Fraudulent Chargebacks: Any attempt to file a fraudulent chargeback will be vigorously contested. We reserve the right to report such actions to the relevant authorities, and legal action may be pursued.

4. Changes by Us

4.1. We reserve the right to change our typical itineraries at any time and at our discretion. If this happens, we will substitute alternative arrangements of comparable monetary value.

4.2. We reserve the right to alter our itinerary in the event of happenings outside of our control, such as: revolution, strikes and/or protests, traffic, weather conditions.

4.3. We cannot guarantee that the vehicle you travel in will be decorated with ‘Portuguese For a Day Tours’ livery, however we will do our best so that this happens.

4.4. Because of the nature of the service, we will not be liable if any service leaves or arrives later than a specific time.

4.5. If we receive advisories from local authorities regarding weather conditions, safety concerns, or other critical events, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation to ensure your safety, and our team’s safety.

4.6. If we cancel your tour based on the advisories mentioned in section 4.5, please understand that we may not have the availability to reschedule your tour to another date. In such cases, we cannot be held responsible for any inconvenience caused.

5. Obligations and responsibilities

5.1. You are required to provide all information about you and the rest of your group to ‘Portuguese For a Day Tours’.

5.2. To make a purchase, you must be at least 18 years old.

5.3. You are required to have with you your personal information such as passport, ID card or driver’s license.

5.4. You must provide accurate information about any physical limitations or any other relevant elements to guarantee the quality of the tour.

5.5. You must be on time on the meeting point agreed.
5.5.1. We cannot be held responsible if you are delayed and arrive after the time agreed.
5.5.2. If you are not on time, at the agreed meeting point, we hold the right to departure without returning to your pickup point. In case this happens, your booking will be treated as a no-show and no refund will be made.

5.6. We cannot be held responsible if you miss the departure of a train, flight, cruise ship after joining one of our tours.

5.7. We cannot be held responsible if you miss the start time of another activity or service you booked on the same day as one of our tours.

5.8. If you miss the departure time, you will not be able to join the tour at a different location.

5.9. In the event of a delayed start to a tour, the agreed finish time will remain unchanged.

5.10. While participating in one of our tours, you must comply with local laws and respect local customs and traditions.

5.11. Guests on tour are expected to be respectful at all times. This includes showing consideration towards fellow participants, guides, locals, as well as being mindful and respectful of heritage buildings and cultural landmarks.

5.12. For the safety of our team and other participants of the tours, we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone intoxicated or suspected of being intoxicated or ill.

6. Usage of Image and Data

6.1. During your tour with us, the tour guide may take some photos and films of you (as part of the group) while you are a participant, and these images may be used in our brochures or social media pages to promote our tours.

6.2. By using our website and engage in a contract for a purchase of our services you agree with these Terms as well as our Privacy Policy(opens in a new tab).

7. Information

7.1. Our tours are in different areas of the country and sometimes we must walk.
7.1.1. We advise you to bring comfortable shoes and clothes and a jacket because of climate differences.
7.1.2. If hotel or apartment pick up is offered for your tour, then your pickup should be at your accommodation.
7.1.3. In case we are unable to access/stop in your street with the vehicle, we will arrange a convenient meeting point.
7.1.4. We only offer pickups in central Lisbon hotels or short-term rentals.

7.2. We accept no responsibility for the theft, loss or damage to personal belongings from at any time during the duration of your tour.

7.3. You acknowledge that you will voluntarily participate in the tour and accept possible risks as: transportation failures, accidents or illness, damaged, stolen or lost property, criminal activity, protests, strikes, natural causes and the company cannot be held responsible should any of this happens.

7.4. All the vehicles used are cleaned and common areas are disinfected after each tour.

7.5. Smoking, eating, and drinking are prohibited inside the vehicles.

8. Gift Cards & Offers

8.1. All Gift Cards are dated and expire 12 months (365 days) from the date of issue.

8.2. Gift Cards are non-refundable.

8.3. Gift Cards are not available for all the tours.

8.4. You cannot obtain any cash advance with your Gift Card or redeem your Gift Card for cash.

8.5. Gift Cards can be purchased for a specific tour, or custom amounts can be purchased to later be discounted in a tour.

8.6. A Gift Card for a specific product can be exchange for other product with the same, lower or higher value. No refund is applied.

8.7. We are not responsible if a Gift Card is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without permission and no replacement will be provided in these circumstances.

9. The Company

9.1. ‘Portuguese For a Day Tours’ is a brand of the company Portugal Num Dia, Lda.

9.2. Our company meets all the requirements for its activity.

9.3. We are an authorized company for sightseeing tours and activities with the registration number RNAAT 1470/2018 (you can learn about us on the Turismo de Portugal(opens in a new tab)’s website).

10. Liability and Responsibility Limitations

10.1. Liability
10.1.1. Our company strives to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests.
10.1.2. Portuguese For a Day Tours is not liable for any accidents, injuries, illnesses, loss, or damage to personal property during the tour.
10.1.3. Guests are encouraged to purchase travel insurance to cover any unforeseen incidents.
10.1.4. Our liability is limited to the cost you paid for the tour.

10.2. Responsibility Limitations
10.2.1. We cannot be held responsible if you miss the departure of a train, flight, or cruise ship scheduled for the same day you have booked a tour with us.
10.2.2. We cannot be held responsible if you miss the start time of another activity or service you have booked on the same day as one of our tours.

10.2.3. In the event of a delayed start to a tour, the agreed finish time will remain unchanged.

By agreeing to these terms, and purchasing one or more of the services we offer, you acknowledge and accept the limitations of our liability and responsibilities as outlined above in the section 10.

11. Complaints and Disputes

11.1. If you have any complaints during your tour, please bring them to the attention of our guide immediately so we can address them promptly. If the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, please contact us in writing at info@portugueseforadaytours.com within 14 days of your tour. We will investigate and respond as quickly as possible.

11.2. Any disputes arising from these terms and conditions will be governed by the laws of Portugal.

12. Severability

12.1. If any provision of these terms and conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions will continue to be in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision will be replaced by a valid and enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision.
